Microsoft To-Do First Time Setup
Most steps are optional, this is a walkthrough for recommended setup
Initial Setup
- Visit https://to-do.office.com/tasks
- If link above doesn't work, go to https://outlook.office365.com/
- Click the 3 dots at the bottom of the left-hand section
- Click To Do
- Sign in
- Turn flagged email into tasks
- Click on Flagged email
- Choose to turn flagged emails into tasks
- These will take time to populate
- To hide completed Tasks
- Click the 3 dots next to Flagged email
- Choose "Hide completed tasks"
- Add Assigned tasks from Planner app to To Do
- Click on Assigned to you
- In the bottom left, choose Create
- These will take time to populate
- To hide completed Tasks
- Click the 3 dots next to Assigned to you
- Choose "Hide completed tasks"
Sharing To-Do Lists
- Create a new list or choose one already created
- Open the list
- To the top right of the list, choose Share
- Create invitation link
- Anyone in the organization can access this link (will explain how to limit in another step)
- Choose to either "Invite via email" or "Copy link"
- Send the link to the person you intend to share with
No longer allow new users to access shared lists
This will only stop new users from accessing and not break the connection that current users have.
- Open the list you wish to stop allowing new users to access
- Click the outline of two people in the top right
- Manage Access
- Toggle "Limit access to current members" to On
- Click "Limit access"
Create To-Do Online App on Computer (Microsoft Edge)
The app from the Microsoft store does not accept Government accounts at this time
- Open Microsoft Edge
- Click the 3 dots in the top right corner
- Apps
- Install this site as an app
- Change the name if you like
- Install
- The new app will eventually show up on your taskbar and is saved to your start menu
- From the start menu, you can pin the app to the Start Menu or Taskbar
