Warning
If you DO NOT REMEMBER your password, please submit a ticket with IT and someone will create a temporary password. Once this is done, please return to this page for directions on how to reset your password.

On Town Owned Device & on Town Network

If you have not logged in and your password has expired, it will ask you to change your password on your next login
  1. Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE on your keyboard
  2. Choose "Change a Password"
  3. Type in your current/old password
  4. Underneath that, type in a new password
    1. Please do so using the following rules:
      1. Minimum of 8 characters (including spaces)
      2. Passwords may not contain the user's Account Name or Display Name.
      3. The password contains characters from three of the following categories:
        1. Uppercase letters of European languages
        2. Lowercase letters of European languages
        3. Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
        4. Non-alphanumeric characters (special characters): (~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/) Currency symbols such as Euro or British Pound do not count as special characters for this policy.
        5. Any Unicode character that is categorized as an alphabetic character but is not uppercase or lowercase. This includes characters from Asian languages.
      4. It cannot be a password they've used in the last 12 months
  5. Enter your new password again to confirm
  6. Click the arrow next to where you typed in your new password the second time
  7. If you get an error, please try a different password (even if it follows the above rules)

Remotely With Town Owned Device & VPN

  1. Go to https://portal.office365.com/
  2. Enter your e-mail address
  3. Enter
  4. Choose "Change your password here"
  5. Re-enter your e-mail address, followed by your current/temporary password in the Old Password field
    1. If you don't know/remember your existing password, please inform IT
  6. Create a new password in the New Password field
    1. Please do so using the following rules:
      1. Minimum of 8 characters (including spaces)
      2. Passwords may not contain the user's Account Name or Display Name.
      3. The password contains characters from three of the following categories:
        1. Uppercase letters of European languages
        2. Lowercase letters of European languages
        3. Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
        4. Non-alphanumeric characters (special characters): (~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/) Currency symbols such as Euro or British Pound do not count as special characters for this policy.
        5. Any Unicode character that is categorized as an alphabetic character but is not uppercase or lowercase. This includes characters from Asian languages.

    2. If you get an error, please try a different password (even if it follows the above rules)
  7. Confirm new password
  8. After resetting, type in your username and new password on the login screen
  9. Accept all options except noted below
    1. It may ask you to set a timezone
      1. Only choose (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)
      2. DO NOT CHOOSE "INDIANA" TIME
  10. Once you see the Office 365 Portal page, feel free to exit out of the browser
  11. On the computer you are working on, open the Cisco AnyConnect VPN and connect (if not already connected)
  12. On the computer, lock the screen
    1. There are two ways to do this
      1. Easiest - Press Windows Key + L on your keyboard
      2. Alternative - Start Menu
        1. Open Start Menu
        2. Click the outline of a person on the left side
        3. Lock
  13. Log back on to the computer with the new password
    1. You will need to Disconnect and Reconnect the VPN if it is still open
